MOVIE REVIEW OF BADLAPUR

BADLAPUR DONT MISS THE BEGINING

The much awaited film Badlapur is finally hitting theeatres which falls under the Indian neo noir action crime drama, directed by the talented Sriram Raghavan and produced by the duo filmmakers – Dinesh Vijan and Sunil Lulla. The movie has Varun DhawanNawazuddin SiddiquiYami Gautam and Huma Qureshi in the lead roles, along with actors like Mateen Shaikh,Radhikha Apte and Divya Dutta who will be seen in the supporting roles. The music of the filmcomes from Sachin-Jigar, while it is produced under the banner of Maddock Films, and the distribution  with Eros International. The reason why it is awaited the most is that this film would certainly change the image of Varun over the silver screen.
Let’s begin with the plot or story of the film. Meet a young man called Raghu, which is played by Varun Dhawan. He seems to be leading A normali ilife but soon his life takes a turn destrroying him totallyi when a   bank robbery incident simply kills his wife and son. The culprit is a man known as Liak, which is played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He refuses to disclose the truth and name of his partner in crime also blames him for murder of raghu's wife and child and thus goes behind the bars for 20 years under lifetime imprisonment. Raghu on the contrary is seen standing thereby to extract the truth from this man and finally nabs the man after 15 years. Will he be able to avenge the death of his family, who really meant the world for him, is indeed a worthy question to explore when you finally catch the film?
Now, let’s talk about the film Badlapur, well in a perspective of a critic it is a gobsmacking movie, which suffuses over the silver screen. The story is written deftly by the writer backed by incredible performances along with a sagacious layered screenplay. What strikes the most at this juncture is the unpredictability elements discovered in the movie. Right from the start to the end, you get deeply engrossed with the film, thanks to the engaging story  by the director;  .
. Though you find the screenplay layers unveiling smoothly in this saga of feud and vendetta, the kind of clarity in vision of Sriram Raghavan you encounter simply keeps the narrative flawless. On the top of it, you notice some wicked humour, which is skilfully sprinkled in a number of sequences without any order by nawazuiddin. T
Amidst all this, you can find the performances of actors to be the driving force of the film, which keep the pace of the story evolving. The measured acting of Varun Dhawan can draw a series of eyes to applaud him for his incredible acting  Every sequence in which you find Varun in the intense look of Raghu simply unravels him. On the other side, you have Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing the role of Liak. He is simply super as always. With every film, he seems to be turned a master who can play around with any character with uttern confidence
Now talking about the ladies, they were seen delivering appropriately, however, it was Huma in the band of actresses in Badlapur who has performed very aptly which made her presence felt over the silver screen. Comparing the first half to the second, the latter seems to be dragging long , however, the compelling climax and several memorable sequences like when Raghus has his tryst with Liak’s truth simply overshadow certain these trivial flaws in the film. Let’s not forget to applaud Sachin-Jigar for giving a captivating music in Badlapur. It really seemed adding the entertainment value of the film.
Badlapur Review – Last Word
On the face of it, Badlapur may sound brisk and absorbing; however, the climax you encounter in it is very much different than expected. Badlapur witnesses the transformation of a chocolate boy into a fierce angry young man in the form of Raghu of Varun. This can be the turning point of Varun making him more compatible actor in B Town, Varuns intensity in this movie is worth watching .
However the background score of the movie is horrible , the rest is fine.

My verdict is 3*/5*

MOVIE REVIEW OFQISSA

Qissa” is a film that strips through the layers of subterfuge that living on the edge entails. The partition of India ripped the country into two. In the film Irrfan, playing the Sardar Umber Singh with majestic believability, walks across the border with his family of a beautiful wife (Tisca Chopra) and three daughters.
The fourth progeny is where the plot thickens. Obsessed with the idea of a male heir, Umber potrays to the pind  that a son is born to him and he creates a virtual life for the child .. She is no longer a daughter. She is Umber’s son Kanwar Singh who won’t play with dolls. But the dolls will continue to play with her, no matter how hard her delusional father tries to fortify the growing femininity of his daughter with aggressive clannish lies.
Anup Singh unfolds the bewildering and bizarre tale with an inevitability that simply dissolves all disbelief. In a society, culture and country that still favours the male child as the true inheritor of the family lineage, the message that “Qissa” conveys is both timely and timeless.
The drama created in the screenplay(co-written by the director Anup Singh and Madhuja Mukherjee) is so primeval,it threatens to collapse under the weight of its own drama. The director balances out the incongruities inherent in the theme with a great deal of compelling drama and primeval passion.
You can’t help being swept away by the deceit drama and passion of “Qissa”. Cinematographer Sebastin Edschmid shoots Punjab  as in post partition brilliantly , the cinematography is excellent .Not surprisingly the last quarter of the narrative slips into a surreal mode, as Umber, now dead, returns to confront the son he never had. Finally the film is about the ghost of tormented guilt-ridden man trying to come to terms with the wrong done to a son’ he never had and A daughter-in-law (Rasika Duggal) he should’ve never conned.
Irrfan’s shared screen-time with his gender-challenged daughter are structured as a subverted tribute to the filial bond that ties all mankind.
Like destiny , “Qissa” moves in unexpected ways. The performances specially Irrfan’s, lift the high drama to another level of articulation where the characters appear to be conversing with their destiny without Edschmid’s camera peering into their souls. More than 70 percent of the film is shot in the night, as though the dark recesses in the characters’ souls were seeking a way to express themselves outwardly.
Emphatically evocative are the sequences where Tillotma Shome as Kanwar is locked away in her father’s crumbling ancestral home in Pakistan with his’ bride Neeli. As they try to figure out a way from his gender imbroglio, a glowering state of doom and indignation gathers around the film.
You know as well as the characters do that there is escape from the patriarchal arrogance that Irrfan’s character has unleashed on his family. In some endearing way, the theme of patriarchal tyranny in “Qissa” reminded me of Shoaib Mansoor’s Pakistani film “Bol”.
And though Tillotama Sharma’s gender challenged character never acquires the resilient tragic contours of Hillary Swank in “Boys Don’t Cry”, she brings a very high dose of credibility and poignancy to her character, specially in her high dramatic sequence where her character stands naked in front of her father’s ghost asking him her true identity.
Rasika Duggal as Shome’s reluctant bride is deeply moving. And Tisca Chopra as Irrfan’s devoted wife who can’t give her husband the one thing that makes his life worthwhile, reminds us again of her staggering versatility.
But make no mistake. “Qissa” gets the largest measure of its strength and glory from Irrfan.
Like the ghost that follows the film’s gender-challenged protagonist “Qissa” will haunt you forever. It takes the patriarchal obsession with the male heir till date . Even in todays modern times this obssession for male heir is going on and wil go on till the mentality of the society does not change .

My verdict is 3 */5*

MOVIE REVIEW OF ROY

The most obvious and good fact about Roy is that its story isn’t borrowed from any Bollywood or Hollywood’s earlier suspense or con dramas. Vikramjit Singh brings in a fresh tale uninspired from any other flick and delivers it with a strong cast, which everyone has been talking about ever since its conceptualization.
There was a necessity to rope in these three stars so that you are hooked on to your seats while watching the flick, which demands your patience and devotion.
The con-man story, which our onscreen filmmaker Kabir (Arjun Rampal) has been capitalizing over, isn’t fast-paced or stuffed with innumerable action sequences.

Stars- Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez
Director- Vikramjit Singh
Music director- Ankit Tiwari, Amaal Mallik, Meet Bros Anjjan

It slowly evokes an emotion of curiosity, attachment for the protagonist and swiftly exposes a mystery surrounding throughout. The mystery of the con-man Roy (Ranbir Kapoor) is dealt in Malaysia where numerous theft activities particularly of paintings have taken place but no one has a slightest idea about his whereaboutse. Arjun playing the arrogant director and writer of movie . He is working on making guns 3 completing the trilogy of guns movie made earlier by him who is in search for the script and inspiration for makin guns 3. . Filmmaker Kabir is interested in this man’s story and incorporates that into his films.
Ayesha (Jacqueline Fernandez), on the other hand is another filmmaker and also Kabir’s new girlfriend. How these three characters' lives merge together in one dramatic, romantic and serenity is what Roy is all about. Also this film director Ayesha also manages to totally change the arrogant and playboy arjun who is always in limelight for his breakups and his affairs are numbered . Ayesha being gf no 23 who  to an person who becomes serious and understand what love is exactly
Debutant Vikramjit Singh succeeds in building surprise by giving the movie a required love angle. There is betrayal, regret and illusion which lead us to twist at climax.
The movie however walks slowly but this is how it is meant to be. In an unhurried tale, the liveliness evokes in the form of brilliant numbers ‘Sooraj Dooba Hai’, ‘Chitiya Kalaiya’ and ‘Tu Hai Ki Nahi’ among others while Roy’s calls to cop investigating this case (Rajit Kapoor relives the simplicity of Byomkesh Bakshi in this role) adds fun.
But in the scenery settings of Malaysia, which is exceptionally cinematographed by Himman Dhamija, Arjun-Jacqueline’s and Ranbir-Jacqueline’s chemistry add more depth. Jacqueline’s twin factor works with both the actors and it gels well with the screenplay too.
The performances are undoubtedly of top notch and neither of the three is less than the other. Ranbir Kapoor is at ease. He is cool and calm and never unnecessarily shows his vigorous side unless required.

Roy ultimately makes up for a perfect Valentine’s Day treat to lovers with a sweet .

But the movie is slow paced and it is meant for classes apart , watch it at calm , the locales and photography is mind blowing taking one to a different world with cool and calm beaches , it does not hv regular Bollywood masala and action . the story might be confusing for masses .

a once watch that too if you are in a mood for calmness

The story however makes us wonder whether ranbir kapoor is really there in the movie , or just an imaginary character , that's for you to ans

My Verdict is 2.5*.

MOVIE REVIEW OF FILM SHAMITABH

Iska face, Meri Awaaz,” says Amitabh Sinha (Amitabh Bachchan), who becomes the voice of mute actor Danish (Dhanush). Together, they become Shamitabh. This is a fascinating tale for a movie set within the film industry, which offers a rich tableau for film-maker R. Balki.
Danish whoeats , drinks and sleeps only on the diet of cinema ,childhood dreams of becoming a hero one day, Danish arrives in Mumbai and begins his “struggle”. With just the shirt on his back—made from a curtain decorated with images of movie stars, which he found at a local village DVD store—Danish lives as a stowaway in a vanity van. His luck changes when Akshara (Akshara Haasan), a compassionate assistant director, befriends him and sees his raw talent. “
She comes up with a plan to find Danish a voice and make him a star , luckly her fathers friend who is a scencetist with his help from finland comes a new technology . of micro processor fitted in Danish throat but they need a voice backup , . That’s when they stumble upon a drunk Amitabh, who spends most of his days wasting away in a graveyard. who is also a struggling and frustrated guy whose dream of becoming an actor  and because of his deep  voice was shattered . Dannish and akshara approaches him to become voice for dumb Danish .
Dhanush must use his eyes and miming skills to convey his thoughts and emotions, something he pulls off with great assurance, though the script gives him short shrift. Haasan is cast cleverly.
The story is also replete with conveniences and omissions—a voice-box technology which allows someone else’s voice from a few feet away to be lip-synced by another;
The humor pre-interval, and the satire in a film set within the industry is refreshing; it doesn’t overdo the inside jokes . There is a tongue-in-cheek scene with Rekha presenting an award to Shamitabh, but . the team up of shamitabh does wonders , and Danish becomes a superstar , but seeing Danish getting all name and fame the drunkard gets jealous with envy ., Ego of both the stars clash .
Consequently, clever conundrums and satire are replaced by sophomoric writing, such as the scene where Akshara is desperately trying to get the feuding Danish and Amitabh—torn apart by ego, rivalry, jealousy and insecurity—to reunite by teaching them the A-Z of life in a nursery school classroom!
What happens then is for you to watch . The direction by R.Balki is uo to the mark .

Amitabh as we the big b has a power packed performace . the story has a tragic ending giving a lesson that ego and rivalry leads to destruction and nothing else .

the subject is new , concept is new , so do watch once atleast .

My Verdict is 3*
