BADLAPUR DONT MISS THE BEGINING
The much awaited film Badlapur is finally hitting theeatres which falls under the Indian neo noir action crime drama, directed by the talented Sriram Raghavan and produced by the duo filmmakers – Dinesh Vijan and Sunil Lulla. The movie has Varun Dhawan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Yami Gautam and Huma Qureshi in the lead roles, along with actors like Mateen Shaikh,Radhikha Apte and Divya Dutta who will be seen in the supporting roles. The music of the filmcomes from Sachin-Jigar, while it is produced under the banner of Maddock Films, and the distribution with Eros International. The reason why it is awaited the most is that this film would certainly change the image of Varun over the silver screen.
Let’s begin with the plot or story of the film. Meet a young man called Raghu, which is played by Varun Dhawan. He seems to be leading A normali ilife but soon his life takes a turn destrroying him totallyi when a bank robbery incident simply kills his wife and son. The culprit is a man known as Liak, which is played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He refuses to disclose the truth and name of his partner in crime also blames him for murder of raghu's wife and child and thus goes behind the bars for 20 years under lifetime imprisonment. Raghu on the contrary is seen standing thereby to extract the truth from this man and finally nabs the man after 15 years. Will he be able to avenge the death of his family, who really meant the world for him, is indeed a worthy question to explore when you finally catch the film?
Now, let’s talk about the film Badlapur, well in a perspective of a critic it is a gobsmacking movie, which suffuses over the silver screen. The story is written deftly by the writer backed by incredible performances along with a sagacious layered screenplay. What strikes the most at this juncture is the unpredictability elements discovered in the movie. Right from the start to the end, you get deeply engrossed with the film, thanks to the engaging story by the director; .
. Though you find the screenplay layers unveiling smoothly in this saga of feud and vendetta, the kind of clarity in vision of Sriram Raghavan you encounter simply keeps the narrative flawless. On the top of it, you notice some wicked humour, which is skilfully sprinkled in a number of sequences without any order by nawazuiddin. T
Amidst all this, you can find the performances of actors to be the driving force of the film, which keep the pace of the story evolving. The measured acting of Varun Dhawan can draw a series of eyes to applaud him for his incredible acting Every sequence in which you find Varun in the intense look of Raghu simply unravels him. On the other side, you have Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing the role of Liak. He is simply super as always. With every film, he seems to be turned a master who can play around with any character with uttern confidence
Now talking about the ladies, they were seen delivering appropriately, however, it was Huma in the band of actresses in Badlapur who has performed very aptly which made her presence felt over the silver screen. Comparing the first half to the second, the latter seems to be dragging long , however, the compelling climax and several memorable sequences like when Raghus has his tryst with Liak’s truth simply overshadow certain these trivial flaws in the film. Let’s not forget to applaud Sachin-Jigar for giving a captivating music in Badlapur. It really seemed adding the entertainment value of the film.
Badlapur Review – Last Word
On the face of it, Badlapur may sound brisk and absorbing; however, the climax you encounter in it is very much different than expected. Badlapur witnesses the transformation of a chocolate boy into a fierce angry young man in the form of Raghu of Varun. This can be the turning point of Varun making him more compatible actor in B Town, Varuns intensity in this movie is worth watching .
However the background score of the movie is horrible , the rest is fine.
My verdict is 3*/5*
