Review of Movie Dear Dad

Production House:Peppermint Studios

Director : Tanuj Bhramar

Cast  : Arvind Swamy , Himanshu Sharma , Ekavali Khanna , Aman Uppal
Overview : A Bold concept movie For A , Normal Indian Family .

Storyline : The story revolves around Nitin (Arvind Swamy ) , Roja Fame , whose family consist of wife and 2 children , teenager son Shivam (Himanshu Sharma) , and small daughter Vidhi , Nitin and his son share a warm father –son relationship .but all is not rosy in this picture perfect family , Nitin and his wife are taking divorce but shivam is unaware of this .
Nitin decides to break this news to his son by deciding to drive his son to his hostel in Mussuirie . So the 2 embark on this road trip . on the way Nitin decides to visit his parents enroute in Dehradun , there  Nitin to our surprise  reveals his ailing , dumb and old father that he is gay , shivam over heards this statement , he is disgusted with his father , while nitin tells him that he is tired of living life of lie and that’s why he has to reveal the truth , but shivam is very angry and he feels that his father has cheated them all , now his mother and sister will have to pay the price .

As the story progresses we see that father and son enters into several fights and arguments.   What will happen next, whether shivam will be  able to accept his father for who he is and will the dynamics between the two change over time

Performances : Arvind has performed very well , simply brilliant , the sense of unease that he carries on his face  as he tries to reveal the truth to his son is just too real . Himanshu as shivam has also acted very well as per his role of a teenage boy , even his  expressions are real , like how he reacts when he comes to know that his father is gay , first disgust , then frustrated and then curious as he tries to cure his father’s ailment by getting babaji ki buty , which is hilarious .

Verdict : The movie is excellent , it is the most realistic Indian movie to have graced the screens in recent times . Amongst the recent movies depicting the concept of gay , this is is the mosrt realistic movie hard hitting , but with  a very gracefull screenplay . The movie depicts some beautiful locations , brilliant cinematography , depicting mother nature in a beuatiful surroundings . . Direction by Tanuj Bhramar is excellent as he has executed this movie idea very gracefully and beautifuly .
He has shown the father and son relationship in an excellent way , first cordial and after the revelation how it becomes strained and in the end it becomes much better than how was it in the beginning .

Only negative point  is that it is a bit slow at times . , but it is not regular masala movie but it is beyond all that ,its all about story telling and human emotions

Watch it for it will broaden your mind towards homosexuality . and how it is not a choice but preference people are born with . It will inspire people to come out of their closet and accept what their true nature  is without feeling embarrassed.

 Rating : 3.5*/5*
