Over View :  Rough Book is a hard look at the education system in contemporary India

Storyline : The story revolves round Prof Santoshi (Tannishta Chatterjee) , who is a Prof for Physics  and she loves her books more than anything else . Her Husband is an Income Tax Officer . One day her life takes a sudden turn when her Husband Pradeep (Vinay Jain) is caught up in in money laundering scam , on top of it he had hidden money in Santoshi’s book shelf . This totally hurts her and she leaves her house and files for divorce with Pradeep . Soon after that she decides to leave the city and stay with her mother in a village . On her way she narrates the story of her bitter past . Post her divorce Santoshi joins some college in another city . She has support from her friends who are also professors in various subjects  played by Joy sengupta and Jayati Bhatia etc . In her new college she is assigned to teach D Division students who are not interested in studies at all . It’s a challenge for her but once she approaches the class she instantly strikes a chord with s(Ram Kapoor), the students start enjoying their studies due to different teaching method adopted by Santoshi , she starts by brushing up the basic of Physics , slowly the students start to pick up and their grades start picking up but lo again there is a turn the Principal of college inform Santoshi and other prof’s about opening of private coaching classes within the college premises. The principal ask Santoshi to complete the syllabus as the exams were scheduled . Santoshi protest to this and ask for some time so she can prepare her students .But the principal refuses to grant time and ask her to resign if she cannot complete the syllabus . Was Santoshi a victim of poachment ?  On the other hand students are determined to only study with Ms Santoshi . What happens next is for the audience to watch .

Performances : Tannisnta Chatterjee who is the powerhouse of talent has played her role brilliantly and at ease . Ram Kapoor’s role though very small but very good .  All others are good as per their role.

Anant Mahadevan as a Director has excelled in his direction , he has managed to touch the sensitive spinal chord of the Indian Education System that believes in  quantity of education but lacks in providing quality education which is a must .

The film also focuses onn this google syndrome that the youth of today is addicted to , they think  google is enough for them , but prof Santoshi says that google only provides information , how to use this information to lead to performance only the teacher’s  can teach . Quality and not quantity of eduction is what we need in our society .

Final Verdict : It’s a must watch for parents and students and teacher’s

Rating : 3.5*/5*
