Review of Movie TE3N

Producer : Sujoy Ghosh

Director : Ribhu Dasgupta

Cast : Amitabh Bachchan , Nawazuddin Siddiqui , Vidya Balan  and Sabyasachi Chakraborty

Overview : TE3N is one of those rare film which has one of the most talented powerhouse performers in Hindi cinema , this movie is official remake of Korean movie ‘Montage’.

Story line : The story revolves round John Biswas (Amitabh Bachchan) , who struggles for eight long years awaiting justice for death of his granddaughter Angela who was kidnapped by somebody and later found dead , who kidnaped her the police in charge at that time was Martin (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) . but his plan to catch the kidnapper was unsuccessful that drives him to leave the job and become father in the church , known as Father Martin , but John was adamant to give up and was determined to seek justice for Angela , so he daily visits the police station currently under Vidya Balan who is officer in charge , she tells him that his efforts are waste of time as there is no clue leading to the kidnapper . But John is determined to find the culprit , after eight years finally john on his visit to the market comes across a clue to the death of his Angela , from there his journey begins and one clue leads to another and so on , while the cops are disinterested in Angela Case till another similar Kidnapping happens , Vidya approaches Father Martin to help her solve this Kidnapping case , father Martin agrees , Father Martin notices that the modus operandi of this case and Angela case is quiet similar , he  works on investigating on the other hand John also succeed in reaching the culprit , who is the culprit and whether John and Martin are able solve the case , whether the kidnapper is same is for audience to watch . There is a surprise element in the climax of the movie .

Performances : Amitabh Bachchan as John shines in the movie , playing character of old grandfather who is struggling to get justice for his granddaughter is excellent , his expressions and body language will melt your heart .Nawazuddin Siddiqui as excop turned father manages to leave impact except he fails to bring in catholic touch in his voice .

Vidya Balan has a guest appearance in the movie as police in charge of the new case .There is not much scope to her character so she has done what she is expected to do .

Ribhu Dasgupta the Director takes us back into the lanes of Kolkatta after Kahani and Piku being set in Kolkatta . Ribhu has managed to show different parts of Kolkatta , which are very old and rustic .  The movie is slow paced in first half though it picks up in 2nd half  ,that goes against it . Though visually the film does form a great viewing but oscillation between the flashback and present especially in 2nd half of the film in quite bleary and may even leave the viewers slightly confused.

The screenplay of the movie is lacking in many parts though the sound track is impressive  and even editing needs to be worked upon , more tight editing .

Final Word : TE3N is a thriller that does not thrill you and fails to keep you engaged till the end due to its slow pace .

Rating : 2.5*/5*
